Thanks Bill and Michelle!

Ann, I personally find screenwriting easier in many ways and harder in others. With screenwriting you're restricted to what the audience can see and hear only, no internal dialogue. All emotion has to be expressed visually (doing it through dialogue is a short cut and not advised).

But screenplays are also shorter, have more white space and don't require as much of a time commitment. And, yes, it just boils down to a different mindset.

Wow, and wow. Actually, I can tell you are a great writer, your blog brought traces of tears to my eyes too. I am so glad you found writing books is your medium. I agree with what you say when you talk about being able to write from inside the characters being very satisfying.
And so interesting to here your views on the difference between Hollywood and tv. You are right, there have been some crazy amazing shows over the past few years.
Do you think screenwriting is harder or easier than writing a book? Or are they just not comparable?
Not that I am thinking of screenwriting.
Just wondering if they require different mindsets and or talents?

Haha, Ruth. As frustrating as my experience with Hwood was in the past, I have to say it's a lot different when you're the novelist and you're dealing with television, where the writer is respected. They treated me like a king.

Thanks, Alison. I couldn't be more thrilled with the casting.

Well, I was going to reply, then had a computer meltdown. And my resident computer guy is at the dentist. I love the story of your early Hollywood days. Reinforces why I wouldn't want to do THAT. Fingers crossed that your pilot gets picked up.
