Lots of good ideas here. However, I went to Chris Bohjalian’s site, and immediately a download sign for Flash Player came up…and then kept coming up even though I clicked no. This does not seem like good design to me – to have a Flash Player download sign in my face. I clicked off the site straightaway. Granted, my Flash Player may be older, but any site that insists you download something immediately puts me off.

This is a great (and timely) post. I’m currently working on my own website content. Since I am not published at this time, I do intend to include another hobby of mine – scrap-booking. Excellent, practical information. Thanks so much for posting. I noticed when I went to your links – most of your authors were NYT Bestselling authors, with many books, interviews, movies, etc. to their credit.

What would you suggest for a debut author? Obviously we can include much of the BASIC information you describe, but we won’t have the NEWS events, etc. that your more established authors have. Some of us don’t even have a book cover yet! Thanks again.
