Phoebe, I so agree! The definition of family has changed drastically over the decades. Your family is whoever you choose it to be. But if you happen to have siblings, you’re stuck with them whether you’d choose them or not. Sigh.

I’m an only child, but I have close friends with whom to share joys and sorrows. Sometimes “choosing” our relatives works best.

I have one sister still living. We talk on the phone several times a week, as we live a distance apart.
When we are able to get together we love to go shopping and have lunch.
