There will never be a "death" of the author...only a difference in how they tell their story. Paper books won't "always" be around any more than hand-printed manuscripts are now. Someday, , too, paper books will be museum artifacts. But "books" in whatever form will always be available. As exciting a concept as I find eBooks, I have to admit I'll be long dead and gone before the demise of paper books. Hmmm, wonder if my kids will keep my 8,000+ book library to sell later as antiques.

I completely agree to a limit. Yes, ebooks will be a whole new development in novels and the public may lean towards that form. However, there are too many authors who are afraid of the new technology, and believe it is an opening for more illegal downloading.

When we talk about ebooks, we only consider our general area. However, novels are translated all over the world to areas the internet and computers are hard to find.

Paper books will always be around due to suspicions and availability. So don't quote the death of the author quite yet, development takes time.
